Executive Officers
John W. Cumming
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Hologic, Inc.
Mr. Cumming was appointed to the positions of Chief Executive Officer and a director in July 2001. From November 2002 to October 2007, Mr. Cumming also served as the Chairman of the Board. Mr. Cumming served as President of the Company from July 2001 through September 2003. Prior to that, Mr. Cumming held the position of Senior Vice President and President, Lorad, since joining the Company in August 2000.
Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Cumming served as President and Managing Director of Health Care Markets Group, a strategic advisory and investment banking firm that he founded in 1984. Prior to forming Health Care Markets Group, Mr. Cumming was Vice President/Division Manager for Elscint, Inc., a full line manufacturer of diagnostic imaging equipment. He became a member of Elscint's management team through the acquisition of Xonics Medical Systems in 1983, where he served as Director of Sales & Marketing. Mr. Cumming joined Xonics through the acquisition of Radiographic Development (medical imaging), where he served as Vice President, Sales & Marketing.
Jay A. Stein
Chairman Emeritus and Chief Technical Officer
Dr. Stein, a co-founder, Chairman Emeritus and the Chief Technical Officer of the Company, has served as Executive or Senior Vice President, Chief Technical Officer and a director of the Company since its organization in October 1985 and served as Chairman of the Company's Board of Directors from June 2001 to November 2002. In addition, from June 22, 2001 to July 31, 2001, Dr. Stein served as the Company's interim Chief Executive Officer after the unexpected death of S. David Ellenbogen, the Company's former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
Prior to co-founding the Company, Dr. Stein served as Vice President and Technical Director of Diagnostic Technology, Inc. ("DTI"), which he co-founded in 1981. DTI, which developed an x-ray product for digital angiography, was acquired in 1982 by Advanced Technology Laboratories, Inc. ("ATL"), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Squibb Corporation. Dr. Stein served as Technical Director of the digital angiography group of ATL from 1982 to 1985. Dr. Stein received a Ph.D. in Physics from The Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is the principal author of fifteen patents involving x-ray technology.
Robert Cascella
President and Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Cascella was appointed to the Company's Board of Directors in June
2008 and has served as the Company's Chief Operating Officer and
President since 2003. Mr. Cascella joined Hologic from CFG Capital, LLC
(formerly Carolina Financial Securities), of Southport, Connecticut, an
investment banking firm specializing in healthcare, where he was a
managing partner. Prior to joining CFG, Mr. Cascella was Chief Operating
Officer and Vice President of Finance for NeoVision Corporation, an
early-stage medical technology company located in Seattle, WA, that
developed an innovative 3D ultrasound technology used for real-time
guidance of interventional breast procedures. Prior to that, Mr.
Cascella held the positions of President, COO and CFO for Fischer
Imaging Corporation, a medical device manufacturer specializing in
mammography, interventional breast and electrophysiology imaging. Prior
to Fischer Imaging, Mr. Cascella was the Director of Accounting and
Financial Planning for Perkin-Elmer Corporation, a manufacturer of
analytical and scientific instruments and equipment.
Glenn P. Muir
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Muir, a Certified Public Accountant, was appointed to the Company's Board of Directors in July 2001, and has held the positions of Executive Vice President, Finance and Administration and Treasurer since September 2000. Prior to that, Mr. Muir served as the Company's Vice President of Finance and Treasurer since February 1992 and Controller since joining the Company in October 1988. Mr. Muir has been the Company's Chief Financial Officer since 1992.
From 1986 to 1988, Mr. Muir was Vice President of Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer of Metallon Engineered Materials Corp., a manufacturer of composite materials. Mr. Muir received an MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration in 1986.
John Pekarsky
Senior Vice President, Sales and Strategic Accounts
Mr. Pekarsky joined the Company in connection with the acquisition of the mammography
assets from Trex Medical in September 2000 where he was Vice President, National
Accounts. In August 2002, Mr. Pekarsky was appointed as the Company's Senior
Vice President, Sales and Strategic Accounts. From February 1998 to September
2000, Mr. Pekarsky served in a number of enterprise and national account roles
at Trex Medical. Prior to joining Trex Medical, Mr. Pekarsky was employed with
CTI PET Systems from October 1996 to February 1998 and with Siemens Medical Systems
from January 1984 to October 1996 serving in a variety of sales and management
roles. Mr. Pekarsky received a Master of Public Health degree in Health Services
Administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
Peter Soltani
Vice President, Breast Health
Dr. Soltani joined the Company in November 2000 as Vice President and General Manager of Direct Radiography Division and is currently the Vice President of the Breast Health line of business. Prior to joining the Company, Dr. Soltani served as General Manager and Executive Committee member of the NDT Business Group, Digital Systems, at Agfa-Gevaert from 1999 to November 2000. From 1994 to 1999, Dr. Soltani served as General Manager, Imaging Systems Division of Liberty Technologies, Inc. Prior to joining Liberty Technologies, Dr. Soltani was with Quantex Corporation from 1986 to 1994, serving as Vice President, Technology. Dr. Soltani is the principal author or co-author of a number of patents related to digital imaging technologies and has published numerous articles on radiation sensing devices. Dr. Soltani received a Ph.D. in Materials Engineering from the University of Maryland in 1994.
Howard Doran
President Diagnostic Products
Howard Doran serves as president of Cytyc Diagnostic Products division. He joined Cytyc Corporation in 1997 as an account executive and has held several senior sales and marketing positions at Cytyc. Since 2004 he has served as vice president of Cytyc Diagnostic Products, responsible for sales and marketing execution for ThinPrep® products and FullTerm®, the Fetal Fibronectin Test. Prior to joining Cytyc, Mr. Doran was an account manager at Sage Products, an international company specializing in innovative healthcare/laboratory products. He holds a B.A. from West Chester (Pennsylvania) University.
Tony Kingsley
President, GYN Products
Tony Kingsley serves as president of the GYN Surgical Products business line and senior vice president of Hologic, Inc. He joined Cytyc Corporation in July 2006 as president of the Cytyc Diagnostic Products division, where he ran the U.S. commercial operations for the ThinPrep® System, the ThinPrep Imaging System, and FullTerm®, the Fetal Fibronectin Test, as well as global functions in operations, product development, and customer service. Prior to joining Cytyc, Mr. Kingsley was a partner at McKinsey & Company, Inc. During his 15 years at McKinsey, his primary focus was consulting to various healthcare companies, and he served as a consultant to Cytyc for more than five years. He holds an M.B.A. from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration and a B.A. from Dartmouth College.
