Hologic and the WTA: Championing Women’s Health Globally

When Hologic launched its first global partnership in 2022, the company saw a unique opportunity to team up with another proven, worldwide champion for women. Three years later, Hologic and the WTA continue to combine their respective leadership in women’s health and sports to champion preventive care for women around the world.

As top sponsor of the WTA Tour, Hologic has tapped into an audience of more than 1 billion tennis fans across the continents. Together, the company and the WTA use a variety of methods to engage these people with the partnership’s core goal: Inspire women and their loved ones to get their annual wellness check-up and stay up to date with recommended health screenings.

Through social media and online content, dozens of well-known WTA professionals and retired players have participated in global awareness campaigns about breast and cervical cancers, uterine fibroids and other health conditions. They have appeared in videos about preventive care insights from the Hologic Global Women’s Health Index — a multiyear, comprehensive global survey about women’s health — and have attended special events worldwide to emphasize early detection, diagnosis and treatment of disease.

These messaging efforts have resonated, according to a survey of tennis fans worldwide conducted by the market research and data analytics firm YouGov:

  • 45% of respondents said they had learned more about women’s healthcare because of the Hologic-WTA partnership.
  • 67% said they had taken direct action because of the partnership’s outreach on women’s health, including 24% who said they had taken the crucial step of visiting a healthcare provider.

Examples of the partnership’s reach in the past year include:

  • Special awareness and philanthropic events at strategically chosen tennis tournaments in the United States, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Canada, South Korea and Saudi Arabia.
  • Rollout of the “WTA Health Check with Hologic” series. Each month, WTA pros post on their personal social media accounts about women’s health and particularly preventive care.
  • Educational breakouts on women’s health conducted for WTA players and their support teams by the Hologic WTA Women’s Health Taskforce, which comprises more than a dozen medical and athletic performance experts worldwide.
