Hologic’s championing of women’s health includes the crucial actions of forging relationships with clinicians and focusing on innovation.

As part of comprehensive outreach efforts to clinicians, Hologic recently participated in Tennessee Women in Medicine’s “Beyond the Buzz” session on artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare. The company’s Global Head of AI and Connectivity Liz Asai and Senior AI Product Manager Elektra Alivisatos presented to a diverse group of female clinicians from a wide range of subspecialities.

Tennessee Women in Medicine is a network of women practitioners who come together for education and overall growth in their careers. The “Beyond the Buzz” session featured a robust conversation about the transformational effects of AI in healthcare, including a variety of examples that showed how AI can enable accuracy, efficiency and inclusivity – all ultimately helping to enhance patient care. The audience of clinicians engaged in a thoughtful Q&A discussion about AI algorithms, the FDA outlook on this field and applications of AI in mammography.

“Physicians who are open to learning about AI will better position themselves and their subspecialties to leverage technology to enhance clinical care. It's important to engage with industry leaders to provide clinical guidance and embrace early adoption to ensure AI tools provide clinical value. Hologic demonstrated their leadership not only in women's health, but the application of AI," said Dr. Dana Bonaminio, Breast Imaging National Subspecialty Lead for Radiology Partners.

Hologic Director of National Accounts John Clennan celebrated the innovation-minded gathering. “As a global champion of women’s health, this was a wonderful opportunity to connect with an all-women audience of doctors in family medicine, OB/GYN, radiologists and other subspecialties. The clinicians appreciated how Hologic and our products support and treat women around the world in all stages of life,” Clennan said. “Liz and Elektra offered the audience an approachable presentation on AI and the direction Hologic is taking in our development to positively impact clinicians and patient care.”
